Duties of Other Elected Serving Brethren
45 Presiding Brethren
The elected presiding brethren shall be responsible for conducting the Sunday
morning meetings, public lectures, and Wednesday evening bible classes.
Presiding brethren shall arrange for a substitute from their own number if they
are unable to keep any of their scheduled appointments.
46 Exhorting and Lecturing Brethren
The elected exhorting brethren shall be responsible for preparing and delivering
exhortations at Sunday morning meetings. The elected lecturing brethren shall be
responsible for preparing and delivering public lectures. Those brethren shall
arrange for a substitute from their own number if they are unable to keep any of
their scheduled appointments.
47 Recording Brother
The recording brother shall, subject to the direction of the arranging brethren
and the ecclesia:
a) Keep minutes of all proceedings of the arranging
brethren and of all business meetings of the ecclesia;
b) Maintain all necessary ecclesial records including
records of membership;
c) Take note of all monies received by the finance
brother;
d) Report to the arranging brethren or to the ecclesia any
necessary communications;
e) Convene and announce meetings of the ecclesia and of
the arranging brethren;
f) Schedule appointments for the presiding brethren,
exhorting brethren, and lecturing brethren to perform their services at the
meetings of the ecclesia;
g) Remind serving brethren of their scheduled
appointments;
h) Make the necessary preparations to facilitate the
business of the arranging brethren and the ecclesia;
i) Give the right hand of fellowship to new members;
j) If he desires an assistant, select one from the
arranging brethren.
48 Finance Brother
The finance brother shall, subject to the direction of the arranging brethren
and the ecclesia:
a) Receive all funds accruing to the ecclesia and make all necessary
disbursements;
b) Pay all money not immediately required into a bank account in the name of the
ecclesia;
c) Keep proper books of account and records relating to all receipts and
disbursements;
d) Report on the finances of the ecclesia from time to time as required to the
arranging brethren and to the ecclesia;
e) Prepare annually a statement of account for submission to the ecclesia with a
report for the year at the annual business meeting.
49 Sunday School Superintendent
The Sunday school superintendent shall, subject to the direction of the
arranging brethren and the ecclesia:
a) Administer the Sunday school which is to be in session from the second Sunday
in September through the first Sunday in June;
b) Recommend and nominate teachers by July for appointment by the arranging
brethren;
c) In cooperation with the teachers, arrange for classes and obtain books and
other teaching resources in time for beginning of classes.
5O Procedure to Amend
No modification of the foregoing clauses or following bylaws and resolutions by
way of addition, deletion, or amendment shall be made unless approved by a
ballot of the whole ecclesia. No proposal shall be adopted which does not
receive the assent of at least two-thirds of those voting and one-third of the
whole ecclesia. Such amendments must be proposed in writing, accompanied by a
written statement of the objects of the proposal, signed by five members of the
ecclesia, and presented to the recording brother who shall post the same on the
hall bulletin hoard and announce its presence there for four Sundays prior to
taking the ballot. The arranging brethren shall then submit the same proposal
and statement of its objects together with other such observations that they
consider advisable to the ecclesia for ballot vote.
